“From the Pastor’s Heart...”

The presentation of Donkey Tales was a blessing to us all last Sunday night It takes so many to present a program like that. Our parents were faithful to bring their boys and girls to practice each Wednesday night and to some special rehearsals. The children worked extremely hard in learning the songs and their drama lines. We could not do things like this without good leadership. Janeen Moore, Phyllis Nelson and Pat Barclift give of their time to work with our children. There was a set to be built Rick Yates made sure that it was ready for the production, Jeff Hainsworth and Roy Hosse did a great job with the sound. There are others who make sacrifices to make it possible for programs like this, Thank you all for a job well done!
Parent/Child dedication is a special time for a family and a church. Parents are able to stand before their church family and make a commitment to raise their children in a Christian environment. They ask for the prayers and support of those that they worship with each week. The church commits to pray for, encourage and support young parents as they raise their precious children. These are difficult days in which to raise a child. Children need Christian parents. Families need a good church home. Let’s partner together to do all that we can to strengthen the families of Covenant.
Today we honor our mothers. The Lord has placed two very special ladies in my life. I am blessed to have a Christian mother and a godly mother for my two sons. I am thankful to God that He blessed me with a mother who took me to church and taught me about Jesus. My boys also have that same blessing. I am praying that He will send a godly Woman into their lives that will continue that legacy. I have already told my mother and my wife that I love them and that I am thankful for them. I hope that you will do the same.
We will continue our study in the book of Revelation Sunday night. Your kind and encouraging words about this series have been a blessing to me. Continue to pray for me as I prepare and preach these messages. I hope that you will continue to attend the Sunday night services. I really believe that we can fill up our sanctuary on Sunday nights. If you have not attended one of our Sunday evening services, why not give it a try tonight?
Your Pastor and Friend,
Bro. Sam

Union University Love Offering

Union University has been instrumental in training and sending our Christian leaders for years. The campus was devastated by a tornado just a few months ago. The university needs $20,000,000.00, after insurance, to rebuild the campus. Southern Baptists have been challenged to give to one of our institutions of higher learning in a time of great need. Our church will participate with other churches to see to it that Union will continue to be a blessing for years to come. Pray about giving a special gift on Sunday, May 18.

What do you know about the effects of Lyme Disease?

As many of you know, Betty & Robert Nanney have two grandchildren being treated for this disease. Their family is in need of a place to live for about 90 days while Wilson (17) and Shelby (14) undergo treatments in the Kansas City area. If you have any information that might help them secure some temporary residential space this Summer, please call the Church Office (853-0700) or email Dr. Sam

You can also find out more about Wilson and Shelby's battles against Lyme Disease by clicking this link to their Caring Bridge web site.

Congratulations!

Haleigh Michelle Ogden born May 4, to Kelly & Josh!
