From the Pastor’s Heart…

A major emphasis this month has been on contacting those who have been absent from Sunday School. The emphasis culminates today with Nobody Absent Sunday. Our goal [this Sunday was] to have as many people in attendance in Sunday School as possible. Thank you for your participation in this special emphasis. We want people to know that we miss them when they are unable to attend our small group Bible study. I hope that this will become the norm and not the exception. We do not want to do this for just one month, but we want this to be something that we practice all of the time. Make a point to contact those who are absent from Sunday School.

Vacation Bible School was a huge success. I want to personally thank those who were involved in VBS. First, thank you to all of our workers. You were exceptional! You displayed the love of Jesus as you worked with our children throughout the week. Second, thank you boys and girls for your cooperation. Your behavior was outstanding. Third, I want to thank the church family for providing many of the supplies. Your prayers were also key to the success of Vacation Bible School. As you can see many people contributed to the success of this year’s VBS. I believe that we will see fruit from this event for years to come.
Special plans have been made for next Sunday night. I want to share what we are going to do. Our evening service will begin at 5:00 p.m. (Make sure that you note the special time.) There will be a patriotic theme. The service will conclude with a special call for prayer for our country. This will be a meaningful and needful service. Following the service, our hospitality committee is hosting a church-wide fellowship. Details are shared below on this page here. I hope that your holiday plans will include spending Sunday night at Covenant. It is going to be a great night!
I hope that you are planning on worshipping with us tonight. Our service will include special music from many of our church members and the adult choir. We will also gather around the Lord’s Table to remember what Jesus did for us on the cross. Don’t miss this service of praise as we thank God for all that He has done for us.
It is so hard to believe that we are half way through 2009. I have heard it said so many times that the older you get the faster time seems to move. That statement is so true. I hope that we are redeeming the time God has given to us. Examine how you are using your time. Would you be able to say that you are a good steward of your time? If not, make the necessary adjustments. Make sure that you give time to the Lord each day.
Your Pastor and Friend,
Bro. Sam

A HUGE “Thank You” to those who so graciously helped move the piano!

Not once but twice! What would Covenant do without faithful, willing and cheerful volunteers? Some men helped both times, some only once. Either way, it was really a moving experience! So, a big “thank you” for those ugly men who supplied the brawn and another big “thanks” to Terry Campbell who supplied the beauty and brains!

Of course, the labor was more than worth it when we listened to the instrumentalists playing!
