From the Pastor’s Heart…

Image of Dr. Brassell

On the Cohasset Rocks, just outside Boston Harbor, comes a flashing light from Minot’s Lighthouse. It is a most unusual lighthouse because it sends a message every night to lonely sailors who are passing nearby. The signal spells “I Love You” in nautical code. The Coast Guard talked about changing the code on several occasions. Every time they did, someone complained. The 1-4-3 “I Love You” code is still sent out to sailors today.

There is a message that will never grow old to those who pass by God’s House. It is the message that God loves you. It is a message to us and the Mid-South that God wants to use us to touch a world, a city, a family, and a generation. God’s hands will be our hands. His heart must be our heart. His hope must be our hope

One of the ways we are sending out the light is through the construction of a new Education Building/Office Suite. We will experience the joy and reality of breaking ground for a new place to study God’s Word next Sunday. I believe that this will be a significant day in the history of our church. I want it to be a day that we will always remember. In order for that to happen, I need you to do several things

First, pray. Pray that our focus will be on reaching people and not just building a building. Pray through the construction phase. Pray that there will be no delays in getting the building completed on schedule. Ask the Lord to help us be prepared for the people He sends to fill it. Pray that the building will be used for the glory and honor of the Lord Jesus. The building is not intended to be a monument to anyone, but a lifesaving station for people who need the Lord

Second, participate. Nothing would thrill me more than to have more people in attendance next Sunday than we have ever had before. Let’s go over the 400 mark in Sunday School attendance for the first time in our history. The groundbreaking will take place at the conclusion of our 10:30 a.m. worship service. Do not leave until we have celebrated together as a church family.

The signal will be seen and heard from the beacon of light, and if God does what I believe He will do, we will be sending out that message loud and strong... God loves you and so do we. We must do it together. We must do it to ensure a tomorrow. What a great day to be a member of Covenant!

Your Pastor and Friend,

Bro. Sam
