From the Pastor’s Heart…

I get requests for us to be a part of some special prayer emphasis all of the time. It is impossible for us to promote every one of them. However, I recently received a request that I think is worthy of our participation. I shared this with our Prayer Committee, and they agree that it is something we should promote. I want to explain the If My People Pray... prayer emphasis. I hope that you will decide to participate in this effort.

This movement of prayer is sponsored by the National Religious Broadcasters Association. They are calling on Christians and churches to join together in 40 days of prayer for revival. The purpose is to call people to 40 days of concentrated prayer for personal revival, family revival, church revival, and national revival.

There are several ways that we will be involved. First, our service Sunday night will be a prayer rally. There will be music, a challenge from God’s Word, and a brief video. The service will conclude with a special prayer time. Second, on Wednesday, September 1, the 40 days of prayer begins. Our church will be open Monday—Friday from 12-1 p.m. You are welcome to come and pray at the altar. On Saturday and Sunday you are encouraged to set aside some time at home to pray. You are encouraged to pray every day for revival. Finally, a prayer guide will be made available to you. The guide will serve as an aid as you pray. This emphasis will end on October 12.

I do not want this to become just another promotion. I do not want us to go through the motions. I long for revival to come. It will not happen apart from prayer. Join me in this intensive prayer effort No other individuals, families, or churches may experience revival, but ours can! I will be praying, will you?

Don’t forget about two special opportunities for worship in September. First, on September 12, Bro. Fred Overton will lead a one day Bible study. We have included a copy of the schedule in this bulletin. Make mote of the additional hour on Sunday afternoon. We are going to have a great time going deep into the Word of God. Second, on Sunday night September 19, our Adult Choir will present Hymns of the Faith. Our choir has been working for a number of weeks in preparation for this special service. I am looking forward to worshiping the Lord as we sing the great hymns of the faith. Both of these events will be worthy of your time. I hope that you plan to participate with us.
