Covenant Baptist Church began her ministry in 1997 with the first service on October 26th in the Forest Hill Malco Cinema. By January 4, 1998, the new congregation had leased the “church” part of the Madonna Learning Center, 7007 Poplar Ave., Germantown, TN. This building, formerly the Germantown Church of Christ, provided chapel and Sunday School space. A house on that property was also leased for office and additional Sunday School space. Charter membership was 124 members.

In October, 1998, an invitation to consider a merger was extended to Parkway Village Baptist Church. They had sold their property to Greater Middle Baptist Church and had begun a search for property. On January 17, 1999, both congregations voted separately to accept the articles of merger and over 80 members were added to the fellowship.

On October 8, 2000, property was purchased on  Houston Levee Road, north of Poplar Ave and south of Frank Road, in Collierville, TN. A facility containing a worship center, classrooms, kitchen, fellowship hall/gymnasium, and church offices has been designed for this 38+ acre site. With a current membership of around 500 (as of October 1, 2007), Covenant is prayerfully and excitedly looking forward to its ministry in this rapidly growing area!

Covenant is a traditional, conservative Southern Baptist church. Our Pastor, Dr. Sam Brassell, desires to utilize a shared ministry style of leadership, working through the Deacon Fellowship, committee structure and the organizations of the church.

Worship here can be defined as musically-blended and Bible-based with primary goals of glorifying God in all His majesty and presenting Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord. Please visit us and enjoy our Christian fellowship and support as we learn more of God’s plans for us individually and as a church!
