Senior Pastor

Dr. Sam Brassell

Bro. Sam was born in Memphis and raised in Montgomery, AL. He accepted Christ at the age of 9, and he was called to preach at 18.

He graduated from Samford University in 1984 and received his Master of Divinity from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in 1987. He later attended Luther Rice Seminary, receiving his Doctor of Ministry degree in 1992.

Bro. Sam has Pastored at Oakdale Baptist, Ramer, AL, Thelma Baptist, Wetumpka, AL and First Baptist, Piedmont, AL. He was called to Covenant while Pastoring at Southside Baptist, Dothan, AL.

He is married to Cindy ( Goodman ) and they have two boys, Philip and Kyle. His family loves the Lord and are all very much involved in the ministries at Covenant. Bro. Sam enjoys spending time with his family, coaching his boys in sports, and hunting.

Minister of Education/Senior Adults

Keith Flippin

Bro. Keith was born in Charlotte, N.C. He accepted Christ as his personal savior at the age of 6 at Calvary Baptist Church in Kannapolis, N.C. where he also accepted a call to ministry at the age of 9 during Vacation Bible School.

Bro. Keith graduated from Gardner-Webb University in 1981 and earned and Master of Arts in Religious Education at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1987. He is currently pursuing a Doctor of Education degree at Trinity Seminary.

Bro. Keith is married to Lisa and they have 2 daughters, Kathryn, 18 and Caroline, 16. He enjoys traveling and spending time with his family, golf, hiking and backpacking.

Minister of Music

Cody Goss

Cody was born in Gadsden, Alabama and grew up in Piedmont, Alabama. He surrendered His life to Christ when He was 15 years old, and He accepted God’s call to ministry shortly thereafter.

He graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Jacksonville State University in 2001. Cody earned a Master of Music degree in choral conducting from The University of Alabama in 2003, and he is nearing completion of the university’s Doctor of Musical Arts degree in choral conducting. As a music educator, he has taught music at the elementary, intermediate, secondary, and post-secondary levels. Cody is a member of the American Choral Director’s Association, Music Educator’s National Conference, Alabama Music Educator’s Conference, and the National Association of Church Musicians.

Cody and his wife, DeDi, were married in July of 2001. Their daughter, Zoey, was born in 2007 and Piper Christina, born Feb 17, 2010!

Minister of Youth & Recreation

Bro. Chris Nash

Bro. Chris Nash was born in Shreveport, LA. He gave his life to Christ on July 11, 1996 when he was 15 years old. In 2001 he surrendered to the ministry and has been involved in student ministry ever since.

He graduated from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, LA in 2003. From there he would go on to serve at churches in Louisiana and Texas before coming here to Covenant.

Chris is married to Kim. She is very involved in her Sunday School class as well as the student ministry. In Chris’ free time he likes to sing and play the guitar. He also enjoys playing sports and watching movies.

Bro. Davy Henderson

Rev. Davy Henderson served churches in Arkansas and Texas and was a graduate of Baylor University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He served Covenant faithfully and was instrumental in both our Spiritual and physical growth. He will be remembered as a Pastor, guide, friend and leader to all who worshiped with him.
