From the Pastor’s Heart…

Iwas in a sporting goods store a few days ago.I was not looking for anything in particular. As I wondered through the store, I made my way over to the shoe department. Needless to say, I was shocked at the prices of some of their tennis shoes. I found some Nike’s, New Balance, and Adidas. They were all over $100.00 per pair! The price we pay for name brand shoes is outrageous.

We have a chance to buy some needy children some tennis shoes. No, they do not cost $100.00 per pair. They are only $8.00 per pair. We are involved in a mission project to provide 500 children in Ecuador with a pair of tennis shoes. For many of these children this will be their first pair of shoes. I bet they will act as if those shoes cost $100.00. Not only will they get a new pair of tennis shoes, but they will also receive the gospel of Jesus Christ. If you would like to participate, place your $8.00 in an envelope. On the outside of the envelope indicate that the gift is for tennis shoes. We need to receive your gifts by today.

The Annie Armstrong Easter Offering will help our North American missionaries reach an estimated 255 million lost people in Canada and the United States. 46‰ of the NAMB budget comes from this offering. The money we give to Annie Armstrong supports 5,300 missionaries, I hope that this gives you some idea as to why this offering is so important The national goal is $70,000,000.00. Our church goal is $20,000.00. Plan to bring your offering on Ingathering Sunday, March 21. Let’s do our part to reach North America for Jesus.

Spring Break is underway for some of our young people this week. Others will take their Spring Break the following week. Many of our people will be traveling during this time. Pray for those who will be taking some time away from their normal routine to rest and relax for a few days. By the way, my family will be among that number traveling. We will leave on Tuesday and return on Saturday. I will be away this Wednesday night, but I look forward to being in worship with you next Sunday.

A special Sunday School emphasis is planned for the Month of April. Our goal is to get as many people as possible involved in our Bible study ministry. It is also our desire to reach the lost with the gospel. I hope that you will pray for and support this effort to reach people for Christ. You will be hearing more about Carriers for Christ in the weeks to come. Let’s work together to take our Sunday School ministry to the next level.
